Dog owners have taken to social media to share their thoughts on Aldi’s nacho-shape dog toy – they believe it looks more like a male sex toy than a pot of dipping sauce
People have been left in stitches over an “interesting” dog toy that looks like something out of “Porn Patrol”. Dog owner Emily Glendenning has taken to Twitter to question Aldi over their nacho-shape dog toy, saying she has “just been traumatised watching her dog try find the speaker”.
The toy, sold in the supermarket’s middle aisles, is shaped like a tub of salsa dip with three smiling nachos sat inside it. However, Emily quickly realised it doesn’t look at all like that when the detachable nachos are no longer inside the toy. She said on Twitter: “Whom at Aldi is responsible for the ‘nachos’ not being stitched in to this dog toy? I got quite the fright finding Ned with his face in this”.
While waiting for Aldi to respond to her question, she told The Mirror: “It’s a hilarious oversight by Aldi. It provided a good bit of entertainment and the dog loves the toy so it’s a win-win.”
But she isn’t the only one who has spotted the unusual-looking toy in stores as others liken it to a male sex toy.
One Reddit user, who came across the toy without its nachos in place, said: “Interesting dog ‘toys’ in Aldi nowadays. I will add the label said ‘Night at the movies’ or something. I assume the movie in question was Porn Patrol or something of that ilk.
“Honestly this is how I found it! The bottom was just a basket.”
Another user joked: “Interesting indeed. Just don’t take it off of them whilst they’re enjoying it or else you’ll get a flesh bite.”
This isn’t the first time an Aldi dog toy has been mistaken for something else as two of their SpecialBuys for dogs raised eyebrows earlier this year due to their X-rated design.
Their corn on the cob and cactus-shaped dog toys are ribbed and have suction cups allowing owners to stick them anywhere in their homes.
A Twitter post, shared by Extreme Couponing and Bargains, reads: “Aldi are selling sweetcorn -shaped DOG toys for £2.99. Good emphasis on the DOG there guys.”
One user joked: “Err, an interesting item for sale in Aldi today! Not sure if it should have been in Ann Summers instead though,” while another added: “Ribbed for extra pleasure”.
A third user said: “I’m sure A&E will be seeing lots of these.”
Similarly, another added: “You just know someone is going to end up in A&E saying they tripped up at this accidently got lodged in their rear end!
“Some people just can’t train their dogs to put away their toys properly.”
Acknowledging their customers’ concerns, Aldi joined in the conversation on Twitter, saying: “Russ clearly ignoring that this DOG TOY is covered in spikes.”
