The Bills are thinking big ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, reportedly inquiring earlier this week about Saints running back Alvin Kamara.
They might have to look elsewhere for backfield help, however, after New Orleans turned them down, according to Fox Sports football insider Jay Glazer.
“The Bills are trying to make a splash,” Glazer reported on Sunday’s pregame show, “They already were in it for Christian McCaffrey, but what people don’t know is they actually called for Alvin Kamara this week.
“They were rebuffed there, but look, there are still other running backs out on the market. [Cleveland’s] Kareem Hunt, [San Francisco’s] Jeff Wilson or [the Rams’] Cam Akers. Certainly not on the level of Alvin Kamara, but could be had.”
Hunt, whose training-camp trade request initially had been declined by the Browns, is expected to be made available, ESPN reported Sunday.
Kamara, who scored three touchdowns through three quarters Sunday against the Raiders, isn’t expected to be dealt, according to reporter Nick Underhill of CBS affiliate WWL-TV in New Orleans.
McCaffrey was traded by the Panthers to the 49ers for four draft picks on Oct. 21.
