Australia abstains from UN vote on nuclear weapons

Australia has abstained from a vote at the United Nations on a treaty banning nuclear weapons.

It’s a change from the previous government’s stance which voted ‘no’ for the past five years.

The UN treaty is an international agreement to ban nuclear weapons with the ultimate goal of totally eliminating them.
