Chiefs head coach Andy Reid downplayed expectations for former Giants first-round draft pick Kadarius Toney in his first comments since last week’s trade. He confirmed that Toney — who had as many injuries as body parts while playing in 12 of 24 career games for the Giants — is “healthy right now” after five games missed (two hamstrings).

“We’ve got one football, and we’ve a few guys that we’d like to get the ball to,” Reid told local reporters. “We’ll see how he fits in. I’m not expecting him to learn the whole offense in a day. I think it’ll be a gradual process going forward even though he is a smart kid. I’m sure he’ll pick it up relatively fast.”

The Giants never trusted Toney as a returner — too much injury risk — despite his success on special teams in college.

“I’m not going to rush him into something that he’s not comfortable with,” Reid said, “or I’m not comfortable with.”

The 5-2 Chiefs, coming off a bye, host the Titans (5-2) on “Sunday Night Football” this week.
